Yellow Sapphires

Yellow sapphires belong to a group of colorful gemstones known as corundums, which is a crystallized form of aluminum oxide. Like other colors of fancy sapphires, the yellow is rather rare, and until recently, most of these more unusual colors were not well known among most people. Yellow occurs when a trace of iron is added to the aluminum oxide.

Sapphires are very hard stones, registering a 9 on the Mohs scale, and second only to the diamond in hardness. This makes the yellow sapphire not only a unique stone, but a very durable stone that can take everyday wear and retain its brilliance. As yellow sapphires increase in popularity, it is easier to find them in rings, pendants and earrings.

The yellow sapphire can be found in sapphire mines in Tanzania, Sri Lanka and Madagascar. While top quality sapphires of all colors are rare, synthetic sapphires are made in the lab all the time. Synthetic sapphires contain all the properties of real sapphires; they were just created in a laboratory instead of in the earth over the course of millions of years. Yellow synthetic sapphires sparkle just as brilliantly as those mined from the earth and they'll be a little more affordable than the real stones.

Like other gemstones, price will depend on size, color and clarity of the stone. The skill of the gem cutter comes into play as well. A well cut stone will catch the light even in an artificially lit room. A naturally colored stone will also cost more than one that has been heat-treated to intensify the color or has been made synthetically.

Those who ascribe special meanings to gemstones say that yellow sapphires bring people together, generating feelings of warmth and friendliness. It is thought to alleviate depression, aid concentration and other mental skills and to bring financial success. Healing qualities for the yellow sapphire are said to be related to the respiratory tract and the liver. There is some traditional lore that says a yellow sapphire should only be worn on the first finger of the right hand, although most people don't bother to follow this advice.

Many people find the sunny color of this gemstone lends an air of elegance to jewelry. It doesn't matter if it is mounted in gold or silver... the regal sight of a yellow gem makes one think of royalty. Yellow sapphires are no different. Yellow sapphire rings especially catch the eye as they sparkle with each movement of the hand. If you're looking for a very special, unique engagement ring, a yellow sapphire may be the perfect choice. It is a stone that you don't see very often, and should garner compliments everywhere you go.

The History of Byzantine Crosses

The history of Byzantine crosses began with St. Constantine, who was the fourth century Emperor of the Roman Empire. St. Constantine was integral in the Christianization of the Roman Empire and he came up with the capital of Constantinople in Byzantium. This new era that Byzantium was being able to influence was also helping to influence others in numerous other ways in addition.

Byzantium was to experience a new time that was to never be in seeing again and what greatly made an impact on this culture were the areas of art, architecture, and of course jewelry. Jewelry did indeed reflect the changing times towards Christianity and the acceptance of the Roman Empire by this new form of religion on all fronts. In the key areas that were in mention, art, architecture, and jewelry, the Romans, the Greeks and also Christians was in doing of personal contributions where these areas were the most inspirational to them.

The Byzantine crosses from this early period are not just very pleasing to the eye because of their overall eye appeal. In addition, because they are inspirational in that they represent faith due to their ancient symbols of Christian belief in God. The Byzantine jewelry medallions are just as equally as exquisite from a captivating viewpoint. These Byzantine crosses also represent spirituality, which is the essence of what faith is all about.

Byzantine crosses also symbolize a very important place to those culturally as well. They are everything that seems to unlock the mysteries. That is in association with all that is in involvement with the mysteries that surround our universe and death as a rule. Crosses of any kind are the thing that most Christians keep close to their hearts because to them it signifies their faith and the presence of God within their lives per se. These sacred crosses and or pendants are the things that are tangible and something whose reality means a lot to Christians that feel secure and happy in knowing that they are in close contact with.

Gold and silver jewelry, which includes crosses and whatever else, give a Christian not only an affinity with God, but it also gives each person a sense of ethnic identity, religious conviction, appreciation for religion overall, and last but not least a feeling of social standing amid others. Byzantine crosses can come either in gold or silver or in gold, silver, and other precious metals. They can contain precious stones or not contain precious stones in addition.

Diamond Bracelets

Types of diamond bracelets include bangles, cuffs, beaded, charms, spirals and link bracelets. Some are also made up of gold, sterling silver and diamonds.

The origin of the term "bracelet" is from the Latin word "brachile" meaning "of the arm", via the Old French "barcel". The Scarab is one of the most recognized symbols of ancient Egypt.

Exquisite bracelets sparkling on the wrist add beauty, style and personal statement. Diamond tennis bracelets remain one of the most classic and popular choices. A tennis style is a thin strand of diamonds arranged in a symmetrical pattern.

Diamond tennis types are elegant and thin jewelry pieces worn on the wrist. Tennis star Chris Evart was famous for wearing her diamond line bracelets while playing. The origin of the name comes from a 1987 incident where Chris Evart, a world champion in women's tennis, broke a thin diamond-strand bracelet she was wearing while playing a tennis match. The match was halted so that the scattered diamonds could be recovered. Since then, thin diamond bracelets had a new name-and a new popularity among diamond lovers.

Diamonds are always stunning, elegant and timeless classic gifts to the loved ones. A tennis bracelet makes an excellent anniversary, birthday, or wedding gift for a spouse. These come in classic and modern styles. Diamond tennis bracelets remain one of the most classic and popular choices.
